Mackey takes Miwok 100K in Record Fashion!

Once again, we nailed the winners on the odds list. The big winner was Jon Olsen running second with his 9-1 odds. Nice run Jon, he’ll be a force to reckon with at the WS track meet. Mac Daddy ran a 7:53…16 minutes faster than Lon Freeman’s record which was set last year at 8:09. It’s scary to think Carl Andersen’s old record of 8:22 is now 30 minutes shy. Will Mr. Mackey run Western? Now we are all wondering. Third went to Geoff Roes at 8:35. Scott Jurek came up one slot late for the auto entry at Western States running a PR at 8:38. If Hardrock gets cancelled due to snow, Mr. Jurek should automatically be let in Western…we would think it’s a no-brainer. Lewis Taylor ..8:42, Erik Skaden and Topher Gaylord…8:50 each, rounded out the top 7.

On the Women’s side, the odds were on the money, at least for the top 2. Kami Semick wins the women’s race with a 9:13,comfortably ahead of Beverley Andersen-Abbsat 9:42. Full results found here http://www.run100s.com/results/wmw08.htm

    Karl,

Thanks for the good karma. I don’t know if I deserved it but I ecstatic to bed apart of the WS track meet. See you in June. Well, at least at the start.

3rd place went to Geoff Roes!? He is from up here in Alaska. He has been able to stay under the radar in ultra running. He won the rez pass 50 in a 6:09 course record last year and also has the course record at the Susitna 100. Nobody even gave him a second thought. He has been mostly focusing in bike riding lately but can throw down with the best of them anytime. He is the real deal.

Good job reporting; the ultra races are notoriously slow to post Results.

Mackey looked like he was on a leisure jog when he past us. I wasn’t even sure if he was in the race he looked so fresh. 7:36 per mile, whoa. Don’t let that time make you think Miwok is an easy course, there are some legitimate climbs, fallen trees and some uneven single track.

Geoff Roes is the real deal, I ran with Geoff in SLC one time, he was a quick one. Nice run Jeff, I guess he wins the big money on the odds list as the sleeper 25-1. Let’s hope Dave, and Geoff run Western, it’ll be a heater!

Hey…where is Geoff Roes’ name on the winner’s list? Talk about waaaay under the radar. He smoked that race even though he reported ‘dragging ‘ in the last 20 miles. Can’t wait to see what he throws down in the the Western States if he decides to race! Way to go, geoff!

    Waaaay under the radar!

  8. 8 Geoff Roes

under the radar is a nice place to be. I better start being more careful or I might have to change my name. i won’t be at the track meet though. maybe next year if i’m lucky enough to find a way in again.

btw karl, i’m in utah for the better part of the next month. mostly down south biking but if i’m doing any running up in the wasatch i’ll try to get in touch with ya.

Karl, thanks for the race coverage, and the exciting bets, there was indeed some performances down there. Looking forward to finally meet you in person in June. Before the race and before you leave us in the dust to share the fun with all these latest entrants; would they decide to exercise their spots…
