Well, after sitting on my arse for the past two weeks, I finally went for a few short runs….damn it felt good, slightly painful but good.
What’s next…who knows, but I’m gonna start runnin’ again, that’s a guarantee.
Starting next Monday I’ll post an update for the Speedgoat of the Year award. While I was out for two months, I lost touch with the racing world, and it’s gonna take some time to iron all these races out and who the fast guys are/were.
Performance of the Year? We know who that is, but there were also some great performances handed out from others. I’ll make sure I recognize those too.
Speedgoat of the Year…..probably the same guy as above, but it ain’t over yet.
Speedgoat 50k is set for July 18th, registration will be available on December 1st, and this year we’re limited to 200…just so we all know. Do not use the current form for application for this year, I’ll have a new one with more lingo for 2009.
This is asmall post, but I’m preparing fora big one, so hang tough for now.
I’m outta here, I think I’ll gorunnin’

When your making the Speedgoat of the Year award remember that Kyle’s last name has two g’s.
Certainly hard to argue against Skaggs, but Mike Wardian deserves some props for a number of big wins against tough fields.
Yes, Wardian is in the mix for sure, he would make my number 2 pick. Wardian certainly wins the “road”-no headphones award. I am still looking for Kyle to do one more thing this year, but as I said before, I’ve been slightly out of touch in the Green Tunnel. We’re working on it.
We can’t forget Mackey’s Miwok either, that time was over the top too, not to mention Mackey’s Grand Canyon Double Cross.
I know Kyle has two G’s
Jorge Pacheco…..
Performance: Yes Skaggs, but in my mind there is no question that Robinson’s assault of the Barkley in record fashion should be worthy of something.
whoever gets it, I can assure them they are getting one kick ass piece to hang on their mantle!!
Yes, Jorge! And yes Robinson. thank you Wynnman. It is a kick ass trophy!
Keep an eye on Hal. We all know he was injured early but with impressive Angeles Crest and Firetrails wins he seems to be poised for a strong next few months. With a couple of bombs in November and December I’m thinking he’d be in the top-3 after Kyle and Mike.
And Karl, are you going to Squaw Valley in June???
No Western for me next year, I declined
What about Krupicka?
Sure he was injured in June shortly after WS was cancelled, but did he not win Moab 50K(cr), AR50 and Zane Grey. No telling what he would have or will do(2009) at WS.
Where has this guy been anyway?
My top 3:
1) Skaggs
2) Wardian
3) Krupicka
OK! 4) Meltzer for his AT finish. And did not he win a 100M earlier in the year as well.
Krupicka is in there too, Don’t forget Jorge Pacheco! Also Tony I’ve heard may be running the NF 50. IF he runs well there, Kyle may be in jeopardy. And Wardian at JFK too.
Thanks for the good words on my summer. It was not bad. I had a great run at Coyote in March, and second wasn’t bad at Jemez, but most of the stuff I did like cross Zion Canyon (52mi w/11000 vert in April) really doesn’t count for much. My AT run was actually pretty good, but is entirely different from “Speedgoat of the Year”. Had I broken Andrew’s record I would be top 3 in my books…but I didn’t. There are still more races left for these top 3 mentioned, and lets not forget Jurek’s third spartathlon win with a great time. And if Jurek runs Ultracentric and kicks ass, he’ll even be in there for the “smooth” category. I’ll keep doing research. Off for a round of Golf, the best “rest day sport on the planet”.
