Ben Hian, yea. Let me tell you. I met Ben at a Biathlon race in Ventura back in, oh, about 1987. It was my first race, so I only did so-so. And Ben, well his forte was swimming, not running. So, he also did, so-so. We became friends, and I would go down to La Jolla where he lived with his parents and we would train together. We did many races together. I remember us going out to do Desert Princess around 1990. One of the more premier Biathlons at that time. We awed at how fast Kenny Souza and George Pierce were. We'll, I am older and still semi-slow. But Ben... Out-of-this-world fast.
Ben- never forget where we came from. I am sure there are people looking at you like we use to look. I'll never forget the good times we had, like SCARFING at Soup Plantation after workouts!!!
I just read about you after your last race. Hope you are feeling better, I will be thinking of you. Take Care of yourself!!!!!

Zach was very impressive at Umstead. What's amazing is in the past I wouldn't have considered Zach a super fast guy.........now he IS always considered a fast guy! Very cool. Way to bust the 100k Wynn, that didn't suck either!

I ran with Zach at KM. We split at the 100km mark, as he was doing the 100mile. I was using the 100km as a training run for a 100miler in July. We both crushed the previous course records. The women's records are still well in tact though. Kami Semick 100km and one of many Upper Midwest legends Donna Perkins-100mile. Zach is having a great year thus far. Watch out for him at Deathvalley. He should definitely improve his time there.
