Western States 100 is back in action, and it’ll be a heater!

June 17 2012, 3:47 pm

It’s always hot right?  Competition and temps make this race the most watched event of 100 miles.  Once again this year, the men’s and women’s field’s are strong as ever.  As usual, the race will end up being about 10 guys and gals at Foresthill.  Some will blow early, some will surprise us.  What do Read More

Speedgoat 50k course “modification”. :-)

May 17 2012, 10:26 am

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any harder…..think again!   I just finished working on a new “idea” I had.  I was out running yesterday and figured it would be safer for 300 runners to ascent  Baldy from the Mineral Basin side, instead of descending down the nasty, rocky, Chausy chute.  So, instead of Read More

Young Money takes Transvulcania!

May 12 2012, 6:48 am

Dakota won it!  What the hell was he on?  Way to kill it Dakota!  Andy Symonds second, about a minute back. Killian Jornet 3rd, 10 minutes back. Anna Frost won the womens race. No surprise there. That’s all I gotta say.  Other than….what’s next Dakota, sub 23 at Hardrock?  It’s certainly looking possible.   🙂

Transvulcania Curse?

May 11 2012, 7:04 am

Well, the boys and girls are all a few hours from toe-ing the line with some of the best trail runners on earth.  Will the curse of Americans continue, running anywhere off our own soil?  I doubt it,but it still remains to be seen.  It’s only 50 miles ish, so we won’t see drops, too Read More

Had to bug out

May 4 2012, 3:53 pm

For the first time since 2000 (when I had a bulging disc) I decided to bug out of the Ice Age 50 mile next weekend.  It’s not like me to do something like this, but I’m feeling the need to “get my vert on” and start running and hiking uphill, endlessly, till I can’t go Read More

Broken Arm Redemption

April 18 2012, 2:31 pm

So I’m gonna go run Zane Grey this weekend.   Looks to be a steamer, somewhere around 90 degrees.   There’s nothing like traversing below the Mogollon Rim near Payson, AZ.  No trail or race, that I can speak of, is any more technical than this one.  It is pure ugliness.  Just the way I Read More

This year it’s flooded, but not with H2O.

April 10 2012, 9:37 am

The Lake Sonoma 50 mile will easily be the most competitive “early season” 50 mile.  The field is stacked deep.  John Medinger over at Ultrarunning Mag has assembled a stout list of trail runners, racing for some fine brew at the finish line.   It’s sure to be nuts up front.  A peleton may even Read More

Finally……..the luge video

March 28 2012, 9:10 am

Enjoy folks!   It’s taken a bit of time to make this one, but man oh man….time well spent!  Look to the right, it’s right there, and it ain’t goin’ nowhere for a while.  Hugs and kisses to Tom Maartens of Pure Light Images for putting this vid together.  2 hours of video condensed into Read More

Antelopes, Buffalo, and a big ole’ herd.

March 21 2012, 4:18 pm

This weekend, well Friday (cuz’ we’re in Utah) I’ll be running the Antelope Island 100 mile.  This will be my second 100 this year. I’m not really sure what to expect, but feel pretty good physically to run around 15 hours.  That, of course, is if all goes well.  I’ve had off and on battles Read More

Time for Barfanut

March 13 2012, 8:45 am

So, once again, it’s been forever for me to put together a new post. The Chuckanut 50k is quite stacked, so I figured I’d better get on it.  Not gonna do odds on this one, cuz” way too many guys and and gals in the field I don’t know. I still think I can guess Read More
