It’s been a while since I’ve done some odds on a race, but since I’m going and the field is fairly thick up front, we’ll take a crack at this one.   I know most in the field as friends, so it’ll be easy right? What I know so far. Ian Sharman,  12:44 Tony K, 13:16 Hal Koerner, 13:27 Me…14:27 Bill Fanselow was coming, he’s done now, probably around 15:30 or less.  Mike Wolfe was coming too, around 16 ish. Liza Howard took the women’s record down to 15:33. Jurek Dropped, Zach Dropped ( I think, but not sure) That’s all I got now, full results will come later.  The Men: 1.  Anton Krupicka  2-1.  It wouldn’t be right to put Anton anywhere else.  Apparently he’s been running strong, has run here before around 13:30.  That’s enough for me to give him the nod.  100 mile is not his “best” distance, [...]

See what a little cash purse brings……. I’ve decided not to do “odds”, but to rather just make my picks for this year’s North Face 50.  With the worldwide talent, it’s gonna be a tough one.  I had some help with names from Bryon Powell at irunfar.  I let him do all the research, I’ll just make the picks.  I haven’t seen a good women’s list, so it’s tough for me to “guess” what’ll happen there.  Although I’m sure it’ll be tight for the 10 grand!   I’ll post if I find the correct list.   Bryon?   help?  So here it goes: 1.  Anton Krupicka.  Healthy Tony=very fast!  Unfortunately for all of us, Tony won’t be running. 2. Geoff Roes.  Must stay close to Tony, and he will, but his best distance is 100 miles. The kicker here is that he and Tony are pretty much running for “Ultrarunner of the Year” [...]

No doubt this will be the toughest “odds” I’ve ever done.  Picking the winners of this great race is certainly gambling.  The heat plays a huge factor.  A few WS rookies up front stand out as big overall favorites, but it’s a long way from Squaw to Auburn, and anything can happen. Some of the fast men and women will drop, that’s a given.  Let’s hope it’s real close at the end..I call it the “Track Meet”, wouldn’t it be cool if the last 300 meters decided the race?  I guess I’m dreaming.  Good Luck to all!!
