After running 100 miles on the flattest route ever, my body has come to realize 100 miles, really, is not that far. But I already knew that. Running a PR on 6 weeks of training certainly has me encouraged for the upcoming season. There were only a few days training over the past 6 weeks where I averaged a faster pace then my run at Rocky Racccoon. Yah, I’m encouraged. I ran in the new Hoka shoe, the Bondi B. 8.8 ounces, super comfortable, and a perfect shoe for the Huntsville singletrack. I”m not quite sure where the roots were out there, it was smooth as silk in the forest. For a belated report on that one, click here. The Bondis are NOW AVAILABLE at Wasatch Running Center here in Sandy, Utah. Time to Fly! Now almost through winter along the Wasatch Front, the temps today will reach 50+ degrees and [...]
It’s been a while since I’ve done some odds on a race, but since I’m going and the field is fairly thick up front, we’ll take a crack at this one. I know most in the field as friends, so it’ll be easy right? What I know so far. Ian Sharman, 12:44 Tony K, 13:16 Hal Koerner, 13:27 Me…14:27 Bill Fanselow was coming, he’s done now, probably around 15:30 or less. Mike Wolfe was coming too, around 16 ish. Liza Howard took the women’s record down to 15:33. Jurek Dropped, Zach Dropped ( I think, but not sure) That’s all I got now, full results will come later. The Men: 1. Anton Krupicka 2-1. It wouldn’t be right to put Anton anywhere else. Apparently he’s been running strong, has run here before around 13:30. That’s enough for me to give him the nod. 100 mile is not his “best” distance, [...]
Well, my plans for 2011 are finally shaping up, I’ve plunked down all the cash I have. Hopefully I won’t break my arm climbing over some dead tree again. The lineup: 1. Rocky Raccoon 100: I’ve never run this one before, so I thought since it’s 100 miles, I’ll go see what kind of shape I’m in. We’ll see if I’m recovered now after the Red Bull Human Express. The Hellgate 100k showed I was not ready yet, but I am feeling better and a bit more speedy now….so we’ll see. I hear Mr. Krupicka is running too in Texas. He’ll be flying, so no pressure on me. 2. Antelope Island 100 mile: This one is still up in the air as Coyote Two Moon is the following week, but I may see how Rocky Raccoon goes and take it from there. Running two 100s in a row would be [...]
