Quicksilver 50 Mile The Race of the Week

May 8 2008, 9:56 pm

We’ll be brief this week and do some quick odds for the Quicksilver 50:

Mens Race:
It should be tight all the way with Graham Cooper, Ian Torrence, and Youngster Chikara Omine leading the way. Mark Tanaka just came off a solid run at Miwok, we’ll see if he can hold up at Quicksilver. I’m gonna give the win to IT, he’s looking for number 50…..or something like that.
Womens Race:
Devon Crosby-Helms 3-1.Should lead the way, she’ll be ready after narrowly missing getting into Miwok last week.
Francesca Conte 6-1. With a good race should place second
Suzanna Bon 7-1. She’ll be right behind Franny, could certainly end up the first loser.
McDonald Forest 50K is also happenin’ and should be close:
Mens race:
Todd Braje 3-1. Fresh off the Cool and AR runs, should prevail but will be contested by…
Dan Olmstead 4-1. He’ll be close to Braje all the way.
Neil Olsen 5-1. Previous run at 4:05 makes him a top contender
John Ticer 7-1. Will round out the top 4
Womens Race:
Your guess is as good as mine, flip a coin or two.
I’ll post results as soon as I recieve them, but I’ll be in the Utah Desert this weekend fighting those No-see-um flies and running in the sand!
Check back Sunday night.
On another note: We just got word that Snowbird is under 132″ of snow this past week, recieving yet another few inches last night. It never stops here, the Speedgoat 50k will most likely have some of that classic summer postholing out in Little Cloud Bowl on the last ascent, why not make it a little tougher, eh?
Looking for Volunteers for the Speedgoat 50k as well, let us know if you are interested in hanging out on top of Snowbird, spectating and viewing the classic 50k race in Utah.
We can use all the help we can get, we’ll have ablast ringing cowbells and heckling all the hammered speedgoats as they ascend the Cirque Traverse!
An update on the”Appalachian Trail Assault is next”! Stay tuned for that!
Check out Whereskarl.com for info on the AT as well.
