14 for 14

OK, so I have been pretty much of a slacker in terms of posting info about anything……..why?

In simple terms:  Alta, Utah has recieved a whopping 170″ of snow since March 22…..are you kidding you say?  No, not kidding, check out Alta.com and click on snow reports to see actual daily snowfall.  Needless to say, I’ve been shoveling, burrowing and digging snow tunnels for the past two weeks.  The base at Alta today was 171″ on the ground…..that’s deep enough to safely say the Speedgoat 50k will have some snow on the course.   Perhaps a few glissading sections to make it easier!

Sunday, Cheryl and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary with a huge dose of 30″ of fresh Pow!  Not a bad way to spend an anniversary.  Tomorrow, I’ll go golfing…….only in Utah.

While I’ve been away from the screen, I’ve managed to run about 50 miles a week in the slop, slush, and driving snow.  It’s only gonna make me tougher when the sun finally shows it’s happy side.   The Massannutten 100 is next on my “race” list.  But before that I’ll run the local Bonneville Marathon here in Salt Lake.  A simple little marathon with only 6400′ of climb.  It’ll be my last long run before Nutten’ on May 16th.

It’s freakin’ deep, this year’s total so far: 615″ of the greatest snow on earth, eat you’re heart out Colorado!

“Eat your heart out indeed” … Utah really does have the greatest snow on earth … Colorado is good but not that good … but I’m more looking fwd to the predicted 70 degrees tomorrow … now who’s jealous? However, there are more storms on the way, so I’m actually heading to Utah on Thur (Zion).

The beauty of it is now it’s gonna set up and I’ll be shoveling cement off of roofs. Thank god for gravity! The fluff was nice to shovel, our last storm total was 50″ at 4.44%… Welcome to spring.

Zion will rock, plenty of dirt and rock there!

Im glad you are getting WAY more snow than us here in Gunnison, CO. We have had Enough in my opinion… Endless Mud season.. The shoveling will make you strong. Care for a concrete job? Im hiring.. On the fence about McNaughton. I may tow the line.

    Pray for SUN, Jeff

The shoveling may make me stronger, but do I really want that…….no. I don’t need to lift two tons to run fast, the lighter I am up top, the faster I go down bottom! :-)
No concrete job for this kid, this shoveling gig will end in two weeks, whether it snows more or not……and I can’t wait to wake up and go running, take a nap and get some good quality runs and rest. Maybe I won’t feel so dang sluggish all the time :-)

I am excited to hear about all the snow. I am headed down this weekend to hit up Brighton (I am a snowboarder) I love Utah. There is always so much to do. If I didnt love Alaska so much I would move there.

Looks like they’ve added “Scott J” to the entrant list at Western. I don’t see Max King unless they haven’t updated the website since he won AR50. You are right! This is going to be a serious track meet with Jurek, Wardian, Krupicka, King, Mackey, Grossman, Jones-Wilkins, Godale, Brimhall, Koerner, Zach Miller, Morrison, Pacheco, Mike Wolfe, Lon Freeman, Skaden. Man, did I forget anyone?

Wow. WS100 has a stacked roster. Speaking of stacked, MMT100 is less than four weeks away, and this is the deepest field ever. I have run “with” some of these guys, and it’s gonna be a battle. Here are some guys that should be in the running. I’ll let you pick the odds. I’m sure I missed a few contenders.

Men: Bradley Mongold, Adam Casseday, Glen Redpath, Greg Loomis(sleeper), Keith Knipling,Todd Walker, Scott Eppleman, Joe Kulak, someone named Karl Meltzer

Women: Should be the Amy Sproston show, but Kerry Owens is a sleeper, and Donna Utakis always does well
