Next year’s race will open registration on January 1, 2014 at 7am MST.   I expect to see the race fill quickly.  Last year we filled in about 3 weeks, this year, I”m gonna guess one week. So make sure you’re on it this time. I will have a waitlist active, but don’t expect it to move until around June.   Go to the Speedgoat race page for more info.  On the docket for this year is a potential for a higher prize purse, a bigger field, and as always, some stellar competition from some of the world’s best ultrarunners.  Expect to see world class aid station, a first class event, and a good time had by all, especially me, who will be highly entertained as runners cross the finish line.  I might throw in a few more hills too…..maybe.  And what’s up with me?  This marks the 17th year [...]

Well, not really it’s a point to point 100 mile run I like to call a “track meet”.  It’s a fast one coming up, lots of fast guys and gals running from Squaw Valley to Auburn, CA on smooth singletrack thru the forest…And hopefully this year, it’ll have record temps, can we say maybe 110?  Bring on the heat, the carnage, and whatever else the running gods can muster up, cuz 2013 marks the first time I am running Western States, and I want it to be memorable.  I want it to be a freakin’ steamer… This being my first run at Western, my personal thought on how I’ll do really does have me wondering.  Will the heat affect me? Of course, no shit.  Will the heat affect others? Of course, no shit.  Will there be carnage?  Of course, no shit.  Will I survive?  Of course, no shit.  Will I [...]

Running around the world of course right?  Well, not neccessarily.  I”ve been a busy boy, trying to keep up with life. Often it’s overrated to think I can’t even put a lousy blog post, but such is life.  Priorities are in other areas right now.  But here I am, writing about what has gone on the past 5 months….which will be kinda brief.  After running the Bandera 100k in January, the Moab Red Hot 50k in February, Winning my 35th 100 at Antelope Island in March, then enjoying the Sonoma 50 mile track meet on April 13th, I”ve dropped off the radar.   I’ve had an issue after Sonoma, at mile 42, I was churning along about to run around 7 hours, which for me, on that course was pretty textbook.  I knew I wasn’t gonna compete with the front of the pack, so why bother. My goal was to [...]
